Bidding Terms — Seino Auctions

Welcome to Seino Auctions. These Bidding Terms ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, bidder registration, auction platform, consignment services, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By registering as a bidder or consigning property, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to register as a bidder or consign property to Seino. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, and where alcoholic items (Japanese whisky, rare spirits) are concerned, that you are legally permitted to purchase alcohol in your jurisdiction of residence. Import of cultural heritage pieces is subject to the laws of both Indonesia and the buyer's country of residence.

2. Bidder Account Registration

All bidding at Seino requires a verified bidder account. When you register, you agree to:

Provide accurate, current, and complete information, including legal name, country of residence, and a valid email address and phone number.
Complete identity verification (ID and proof of address) for high-value bids as required by our anti-money-laundering (AML) compliance programme.
Maintain the confidentiality of your password and account, and notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
Be fully responsible for all bids placed under your account.

Seino reserves the right to decline, suspend, or terminate any bidder account at its sole discretion.

3. Bidding and Auction Rules

Bids placed through our platform are legally binding offers to purchase. Please note:

All bids are made in US Dollars (USD) and are net of buyer's premium, taxes, shipping, and any applicable duties.
Live auctions close at the stated time in Western Indonesia Time (WIB, UTC+7). Absentee bids must be submitted before the auction start.
The highest bid at the close of bidding on a given lot wins the lot, subject to the reserve price (if any) and Seino's sole discretion to resolve bidding disputes.
Bidders receive real-time outbid alerts by email. We are not liable for email delivery delays or for bids that fail due to your own connectivity issues.
Seino reserves the right to withdraw any lot before or during the auction, reject bids, or re-offer lots in case of dispute.

4. Buyer's Premium and Payment

A buyer's premium of 20% is added to the hammer price of every lot won. Payment is due within 7 calendar days of the auction close. Accepted payment methods include bank transfer and major credit cards (processed securely by our third-party payment provider — Seino does not store full card details). Lots are not released until full payment, including buyer's premium, taxes, and shipping, has been received and cleared.

5. Authentication, Condition, and Provenance

Every lot is authenticated and provenance-checked by our in-house specialist team before being listed. For high-value heritage pieces, we partner with independent experts and academic institutions to verify attribution, period, and cultural context. Condition reports are available on request. While we take every reasonable step to ensure accuracy, antiques and collectibles are unique and may vary; Seino represents each lot in good faith based on our research and specialist opinion. Buyers are encouraged to request condition reports before bidding on high-value lots.

6. Consignment Terms

Property consigned to Seino is subject to a separate consignment agreement. Our standard seller's commission is 10% of the hammer price. Consignors receive full provenance documentation, professional photography, inclusion in our bi-monthly catalogue, and payout within 30 days of auction close, subject to buyer payment clearance.

7. Shipping, Storage, and Delivery

Won lots are stored in our climate-controlled facility and shipped via specialist fine-art and collectibles couriers with full insurance. Shipping costs, customs duties, and import restrictions are the responsibility of the buyer. Cultural heritage items from Indonesia may be subject to export regulations and are shipped only in accordance with applicable laws. We do not ship alcoholic items (Japanese whisky, rare spirits) to jurisdictions where alcohol import is prohibited.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

Violate any applicable law or regulation.
Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security.
Attempt to access areas of the Service you are not authorised to use.
Submit fraudulent bids, shill bids, or bids you do not intend to honour.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, photographs, catalogue descriptions, logos, and the Seino name — is the property of Seino Auctions or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind beyond those set out in our authentication and condition reports. Antiques and collectibles are unique items, and Seino does not warrant any specific future market value. Natural items (teas, whiskies) are subject to the passage of time. Buyers are strongly encouraged to review condition reports and request additional documentation before placing high-value bids.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seino shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the hammer price of the specific lot in question.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when these Terms were last revised.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Jakarta Selatan, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer protection law in the buyer's jurisdiction.
